U Street Movie Wednesday September 26 – Pelican Brief
Hope you have been enjoying the Harrison Recreation Movie Series this year. We will be having our final movie of the year – Pelican Brief – on September 26th at Harrison Recreation Center, on V Street between 13th and 14th Streets, NW. This 1993 classic features Julia Roberts and Denzel Washington where a law student writing a brief on the assassinations of two Supreme Court justices, finds bullets flying in her direction and she turns to a reporter for help. This features scenes in our own’s Ben Chili Bowl on U Street.
Local businesses Marvin, The Gibson, Patty Boom Boom, and Blackbyrd are providing a DJ starting at 7:00pm. Screening begins after sundown (at around 8:00pm). All movies are shown outdoors in a family-friendly environment and are free and open to the public. You may want to bring a blanket to sit on, and sweater/coat to keep warm. Sorry, dogs are not allowed in the park. Donations and sponsorships are accepted at movies.ustreet-dc.org and will benefit Friends of Harrison Recreation Center (part of U Street Neighborhood Association), a friends of group formed in 2009 that works directly with the DC Department of Parks and Recreation on capital improvements and design changes, and enhancing park management and programming.
